How to Find Wet Cat Food Your Cat Will Love

It can be hard to find wet cat food that your cat will love. With so many brands and flavors on the market, it’s tough to know where to start. And when you finally find a wet food that your cat enjoys, they can be fickle and decide they don’t like it after all. If you’re looking for some guidance on how to find wet cat food your cat will love, you’ve come to the right place. Keep reading for our top tips.

Do Some Research

The first step in finding wet cat food your cat will love is to do some research. Talk to other pet parents and see what brands and flavors they recommend. When you’ve narrowed it down to a few options, look up reviews online to see what other cats thought of the food. You can also consult your veterinarian for their professional opinion. Once you’ve done your research, you’ll have a better idea of where to start.

Start with Small Samples

Once you’ve selected a few wet foods that you think your cat will enjoy, it’s time to start with small samples. Most pet stores offer sample sizes of wet food so you can try before you buy. This is a great way to see if your cat likes the food without committing to a whole can or bag. If they seem to like it, you can purchase a full-size portion next time you’re at the store.

Keep Trying!

If your cat doesn’t seem to like the first wet food you try, don’t get discouraged. It can take some trial and error to find the perfect match. Cats are notoriously fickle when it comes to their food, so it’s important to be patient. Keep trying new brands and flavors until you find one that sticks. Your cat will thank you for it!

Finding wet cat food that your feline friend will love can be a challenge. However, by doing some research, starting with small samples, and being patient, you’re sure to find a winner eventually. Happy hunting!

  1. i personally feed a mix of nulo medalseries beef and lamb recipe wet and hungry hunter raw cat food. my cat has a chicken allergy, and it's hard to find high quality wet without some chicken in it (she isn't a fan of fish based flavours) she loves the beef and lamb, and since it's a petsmart brand i get 50% off as i work there which is definitely a plus.

  2. I have two beautiful, exceptionally intelligent Siamese cats and they are probably the pickiest eaters I have ever seen. It's a challenge to find a food they will eat and will eat on a consistent basis. I have tried so many different brands but the three that they have a strong aversion to are three that appear on your list and they are 1.) Feline Natural 2.) Hound & Gato 3.) Dr. Elsey's Clean Protein. Normally my cats will approach a food slowly smelling it and checking it out with every small step forward they take but with Feline Natural, Hound & Gato and Dr. Elsey's Clean Protein there is no approaching it, the very first whiff of any of those three foods and they back away from it like it was the plague.

  3. Thank you for all this great information! I discovered this video while researching wet foods for my 16-year-old calico. I have noticed she is losing weight. She typically only licks the gravy from other wet foods I have tried. Hoping to find one that she will eat the whole serving. I had been feeding her dry Iams for years, which is what our vet recommended. It's out all the time. Should I take away the dry food, and she will eat the wet food if she gets hungry? Or just give her a little of the dry at mealtimes, since that's what she is used to? I don't know how much change she will tolerate at this stage of her life. Other than the weight loss, she seems healthy. She goes ballistic at the vet, so hasn't been seen for years and is indoor only and spayed.

  4. My cat won’t eat the cheap or expensive food right now he eats wellness core tiny tasters and is a miracle when he eats the whole also I’m giving him z/d hills he eats the hard food fine but I haven’t risked buying the wet bc if he doesn’t like it would be 70$ in the trash or donated

  5. Was disappointed to not see Rawz on the list. Trying to upgrade to a good quality food for both cat health plus increasing unavailability or shortages of canned products. (Many Nulo canned products are no longer available.) Also noted Fromm was not mentioned, but product pricing varies significantly depending on recipe line.

  6. I’m SO glad I found you Mallory! You are an amazing and super bright gal, who does a LOT of the footwork for us. Then you show us and make excellent suggestions! You are amazing and I thank you! I chose new litter boxes, water fountains, litter and now wet food….all from your shows🐆❤️😻. Consider me subscribed with the 🔔 on!😻😹🐆

  7. Wow, I’m so sad that I cannot afford to feed my 7 cats any of these canned foods. I think it’s pretty unrealistic for most people who are not on the wealthy side, or who have only one or two cats. I’m afraid I must settle for less expensive, and perhaps less healthy store brands. And yes, kibble, too! PS. I rescue many unwanted cats turned in to the local shelter…so I think they’re happy to just get any food at all!

  8. In my opinion if your cat won't eat the expensive cat food then it's not worth 2¢ I have 2 Russian Blue's and they will eat anything. I've been looking at good foods at an affordable price and it's just overwhelming! The googled reviews vary hugely and my head is spinning!! I'm thinking some varieties of Wellness or maybe some Tiki Cat. They really like Purina Pro Plan but I think I can do better for them.

  9. Purina pro plan, Blue,Sheba? How come no one ever talks about these brands? As far as the Petco brand goes it gets terrible reviews and I just got some canned and it's slot of water. My cats eat anything "Russian Blues" but I can do better for them. Going to try Wellness and Instinct. They have been on Purina pro plan for about a year and really enjoy it just looking for something cheaper but good quality.

  10. I wish I could give my one year-old cats a raw diet every day. That would be my optimal choice. Unfortunately I’m going to have to stick to wet cat food for now. I tried some kibble but then they won’t eat any wet at all and just crave the kibble all the time. So it’s very frustrating and this video helped me choose a decent wet food to give my cats. It’s just easier and much more affordable. Thank you for doing all these reviews for us.
